Mattis Ranthe's (MD, PhD) research has a focus on cardiovascular diseases, atherosclerosis, premature death, and familial aggregation of these conditions. Mattis has concluded a PhD study in the field of cardiovascular epidemiology, thesis title was "Epidemiological Studies of Lone Atrial Fibrillation and Atheroslcerotic Diseases.
Primarily nationwide cohort studies examining familial aspects of cardiovascular diseases, ischemic heart disease and arrhythmias in particular. Current and past projects have focused on risks conferred by a family history of coronary artery disease, sudden cardiac death and premature death, along with a broader focus on cardiovascular disease and risk factors for atherosclerosis. Mattis completed his PhD study in 2013 and defended his thesis in mid-2014.
