Research area

Primarily nationwide cohort studies examining familial aspects of cardiovascular diseases, ischemic heart disease and arrhythmias in particular. Current and past projects have focused on risks conferred by a family history of sudden cardiac death and premature death. Future research projects have a broader focus on cardiovascular disease and risk factors for atherosclerosis. Mattis expects to complete his PhD study in 2013 and continue a career combining research and clinical cardiology side-by-side.
