Procedure for shipment of bacterial strains to SSI
The strains can be send in e.g. an ordinary transport medium (Extract agar, Stuarts, Cary Blair or likewise). Choose the medium suitable for the specific bacteria, that needs to be shipped. They can also be sent as frozen isolates. Should you need further information on this please contact us.
Please check the legislation in your country concerning shipment of dengerous goods. The strains should usually be sent by courier and packed according to the specifications in the correct polypropylene bio tubes in a fibreboard box. Ship the strains as “Category B” - bacterial substance transported for diagnostic or investigative purposes, UN 3373 or as “Category A” Infectious substances affecting humans and animals, UN 2814.
SSI does not accept strains without the correct transport specification.
