International coorporation

In a globalised world, infections are constantly fluctuating. Infectious diseases are spread more rapidly than ever before, due to increased traffic between countries and continents, tourism, and growing intra-community trade.

Statens Serum Institut is participating actively in international networks within epidemiology, special diagnostics, biological preparedness and vaccine supply securing.

Statens Serum Institut is also the Danish contact centre for WHO’s global alert system and for a equivalent system within the EU-countries.

The networks comprise activities such as surveillance of infectious diseases, tasks and missions for ECDC and WHO, international research, and training and education programmes such as for example EPIET, the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training.

Statens serum Institut also hosts the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Escherichia and Klebsiella.

Other networks

EUVAC.NET – European surveillance network for vaccine-preventable diseases which incorporates all EU Member States together with Croatia, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey.

EuroMomo – European Monitoring of Excess Mortality for Public Health action.
