Statistician for epidemiology research into lifestyle factors in early life

The Department of Epidemiology Research at Statens Serum Institut in Copenhagen, Denmark is looking for a statistician to work on data regarding research on the impact of dietary and other lifestyle factors on health. The position is temporary with a duration of 12 months with a possibility of extension.
The Department of Epidemiology Research is a dynamic research department performing a broad range of high-impact medical research at international level. The department conducts basic, causal epidemiology research into risk factors and prognostic factors in relation to disease. To do this the department needs highly skilled scientists in medical science as well as in a wide range of other scientific fields including statistics.
You will be part of a dynamic, cross-disciplinary environment focused on international epidemiology research based on data from randomized controlled trials with mainly dietary interventions from national registries, and from the Danish National Birth Cohort and other smaller birth cohorts.
About the job
You will become a member of a research team, which is focusing on impact of dietary and other lifestyle factors operating in early life periods on long-term health. The team collaborates extensively with international partners e.g. at Harvard University and the NIH. The job involves work on different kinds of data and designs. Younger candidates can expect supervision by the department’s senior statisticians. In case you have more experience with biostatistics within epidemiology research the position can be tailored to match your qualifications.
• MSc in statistics or equivalent
• Interest in biostatistics and epidemiological methods
• Interest in working with large databases and data documentation
• Preferably SAS skills
• Ability to work independently on several projects at the same time
• Good communication skills
Conditions of employment
The position is covered by the terms of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. In addition to the salary, a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary).
