RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
|
Statens Serum Institut has long standing experience in the field of prevention and control of infectious diseases and congenital disorders.
Within its core competencies - microbiology, immunology and epidemiology - research is performed at a level which makes the Institute:
- an internationally recognized research center
- a leading national and international supplier of data and knowledge
- an active contributer in terms of providing new methods in the combating of diseases
In order to secure optimal achievements within research and development, focus is presently on:
- diagnostics and surveillance of gastrointestinal infections and respiratory tract infections
- research in and surveillance of hospital infections, bacterial antibiotic resistance and the development of bacterial antiviral resistance
- research in vaccines against tuberculosis, malaria, chlamydia and HIV, including DNA vaccines
- Research in plasma-derived products
- research in and diagnostics of congenital disorders
