SSI develops, produces and sells culture media, reagents, antisera and diagnostic kits etc. for clinical microbiology, veterinary diagnostics, food control as well as environmental and hygiene control at home and abroad.

As the National Danish Central Laboratory SSI ensures that the Danish Health Service always has access to advanced specialist diagnostics. SSI’s experts can then react quickly to any changes in the disease scenario by introducing relevant diagnostic laboratory analyses.

SSI researches into and produces high-quality innovative vaccines. One of the main tasks is to ensure the supply of relevant vaccines for the Danish childhood vaccination program and special preparedness vaccines. The majority of the vaccine products are exported.

A negative income for the year left its mark on SSI in 2010. Total revenue declined by 6 % - due primarily to lower export sales of vaccine than expected. Overall, exports grew by 5 %.
