Club11
Club11 is the data sweep among our 11-year olds. Participants will have access to a web-based questionnaire through the Professor's Laboratory. Once they have completed the questionnaire, our 11-year olds will be able to personalize their avatar and see other participant's avatars.
Contact procedure for the 11-year follow-up - preliminary comments
Letters are sent every week to the mothers of the children who turn 11 that particular week. In the envelope there are two letters; one for the mother and one for the child. Both letters contain instructions on how to access the questionnaire as well as logins for each of their individual questionnaires.
We have made a point of including a separate letter for the child with his/her name and address on it (even though it was not strictly necessary). We hope that this may have some effect as to making the child feel part of the study. We also underline the fact that “you are a member of DNBC” – the child will probably not be aware of this, as we have not been in touch with the families since the 7-year follow-up.
We have limited experience with involving the children. Our 11-year follow-up is the first sweep where we contact the children themselves. We hope that the “FAQs” in the form of the animations on our Club11-site will appeal to as many as possible and make our 11-year-olds feel committed to the project. We will be happy to tell you more about our experiences when we have collected more responses in 6 months time.

By entering the Professor's Laboratory our 11-year olds may learn more about the DNBC and the background for their own participation
